Thanks to everyone who came out to the Pancake Breakfast and our Terry Fox run. It was great to visit with everyone!
Spelling
This week our first spelling lists will come home. Students have been working on their word sorts for the past week and learning different spelling patterns. They will bring home a paper copy of their words on Tuesday and a label will be added to their Take Home Folder that has their username and password so they can login to Spelling City on a computer or Ipad at home. When they spell their words in their assessment each week I am looking to see that they are applying the spelling patterns that they have been practicing their word sorts.
Facts Friday
Mastering our basic facts will help us learn math concepts much easier this year. We will focus on some practice activities this week and will have a basic assessment this Friday to help students know where they are at. Students will be tracking their progress throughout the year. I encourage 10 minutes of fact practice at home using games, flashcards or online games. Any encouragement and support you can give your child at home with this is much appreciated!
Reading Logs
Thanks to everyone who has been doing such a great job of bringing their Reading logs back and forth. It provides us with valuable information about our reading and will help us set goals for ourselves. Please make sure you are reading 20 minutes at home each day and mark it on your calendar.
